ISSUE #16 "Escape of the Killer Clown" Game Master: Chris Players: Lewis, Phil, Robert-S PCs: Stand-In, Beholder, Husk (respectively) Experience: 3 each Synopsis: The players deal with the problems in their lives, and then end up confronting an Evil Puppet (identity unknown), Killer Clown, and the Silver Eagle. Details: Wolfie's apartment is trashed, with signs everywhere that a heat- or acid- based humanoid (probably his regurgitated friend Randy, but possibly Bat Boys, or someone else, or all of the above) had been hanging out at his house. A melted doorknob, a melted face imprint in a frying pan, and burned carpet in a humanoid shape helped to imply this. Also, he discovered his sister left to go on a ski trip. He tracked down Randy's apartment and busted it in and found that Randy was keeping some of his own body parts, that were apparently falling off, in jars in the fridge. Poor Randy! The cops showed up and Wolfman had to explain himself. Wolfie also had to try to get a new apartment while his was repaired but he didn't get too far. Stand-In (no longer going by Lamont Cranston, but using Peter Green, his original name, instead) discovered Cokes were missing from his mansion and that there may be secret doors in the mansion as well, but he didn't find any. He also finalized the moving out of his apartment. Husk, who lives next door to where Stand-In was moving out of, noticed a pest control van watching his house. Ironic. It was actually guys who worked for Evers Pharmaceutical, the company affiliated with both the Clones project and his own accidental change to a colony of bugs. They were tracking an ID Badge Husk stole back in issue Two. He got under the van and sent some of his bugs in to spy. He realized his house was being watched. He turned the truck over and entered, to confront them. One of them spilled the beans about tracking the badge, because Husk scared him (Husk is made of 1000 bugs, after all). Husk discovered that they may or may not have recorded him leaving and entering as a swarm of bugs, but he isn't sure. An EMP burst set off, stopping him from reading any of the hard drives or anything else. The EMP burst affected the whole neighborhood. Husk, Stand-In and Wolfie meet up and have dinner at The Turk. The Stand-In discovers that The Mad Hatter comes there occasionally and the wait staff occasionally mistake them for each other. Peter (Stand-In) explains to the manager the difference between their appearances. A sudden vision in the restaurant reveals that an Evil Puppet (the 5th member of The Five) working with the Mad Hatter is entering the Silver Eagle's home / detention complex to free the Killer Clown (aka Grey Jester). Wolfie makes a phone call mentioning a threat against the Silver Eagle and lets himself be picked up by Secret Service while Husk and Stand-In wait. He was convincing enough to get an audience with the great Silver Eagle, and indeed, Wolfie's vision powers revealed that the Evil Puppet (hidden under the Silver Eagle's smoking jacket) was indeed controlling him. Beholder made no move, but left. As Wolfie met back up with Husk and Stand-In outside, they realized Silver Eagle was headed town to the meta-human prison complex (under mind control) to release Killer Clown. Beholder (Wolfie) saw this with his N-Ray vision. The Killer Clown wakes up and his anti-technology field shuts everything down, including the lights. Husk and Beholder go on without Stand-In (because Stand-In can't see in the dark, and they don't have torches on them) and rush down and confront Silver Eagle and Killer Clown. They seriously hurt Silver Eagle but the Evil Puppet abandons him and gets away with Killer Clown. Unfortunately, a bunch of other meta-humans and high-danger criminals get away also, including Bertha Luckett and The Toad, though the heroes don't realize it until later. When Killer Clown and the Puppet teleport outside the facility with Killer Clown's unicycle (which was also stored in the facility), Stand-In tries to drain the clown, which again back-fires as it did when Stand-In tried to drain The Mad Hatter. It almost killed them both. Stand-In checked himself into a hospital, and the other heroes checked the Silver Eagle into a hospital. |
